Buying a Once Worn Bridal Gown
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue ….

You are getting married, how wonderful!   You’ve bought lots of magazines showing beautiful models wearing beautiful Designer Wedding Gowns!   You can imagine walking down the aisle wearing one of these Gowns and all eyes are on YOU!   What a wonderful feeling!   But for most girls, they can only dream because these beautiful Designer Gowns are not within their budget.

But these dreams CAN become a reality…

It is not always necessary to buy a brand new Wedding Gown to make you feel like a Princess on your special day.

You should also consider buying a once-worn Designer Gown at a fraction of its initial cost.   After her Wedding, a bride is now quite happy to sell her Gown for considerably less than she paid for it.

She has wonderful memories of her day but wants to make space in her wardrobe for new clothes.

If you consider it, a Wedding Gown is only worn for a few hours and unless something drastic happens during the reception, it is still as good as new and only needs to be dry-cleaned to remove any surface marks to return it to its initial condition.

And, of course, the price of a once-worn Gown is very affordable.   The dress may have initially cost upwards of £1800 and, in some cases, a lot more, but the return on this ‘investment’ is not always good.

By all means enjoy looking around and comparing styles and prices, but don’t lose sight of the fact that you CAN wear a Wedding Gown by a well-known Designer for a fraction of its initial cost IF you know where to go!

Remember, a once-worn Designer Gown agency will have a selection of Wedding Gowns in different sizes and styles for you to try on.   New Wedding Gown samples are usually in small sizes and it can sometimes be difficult to see and feel what the Gown would look like because it doesn’t actual fit. your figure.  If you fall in love with a Designer Gown that is in a larger size, then a skilled dressmaker can adjust it to fit you.

Points to consider when looking for your Dream Gown:

What style are you looking for?
Take the time to try on different styles - the one you THOUGHT you wanted may not suit your figure.  What looks fabulous on a size 8 model, may look completely different on a larger size.

Fabric quality and colour?
You had set your heart on a white fabric, but not everyone’s skin tone can accommodate white and Ivory would be more flattering

Take a friend with you who would offer an honest opinion
It’s always useful to have someone else’s opinion other than the sales assistant’s.

Season and Venue
Try and choose a style of Wedding Gown which suits the time of year and venue of your Wedding.   A simple strappy design would be more comfortable for a beach Wedding than a gown with yards of fabric..

Size does matter!
All brides convince themselves that they will lose weight for their special day - be realistic and honest with yourself.   If you are buying your dress well in advance unless you know you will not put weight on, make sure when you are measured that they allow a little variation in case you do not shed the pounds you would like.   It is easier to take a gown in rather than have to let it out!

Underwear and Shoes
When trying on Gowns, try to ensure that you have similar underwear and shoes on to what you will be wearing on your special day.   It’s easy to shorten a gown but not so easy to lengthen if you make a mistake with your shoes!

Remember, once you step into your Wedding Gown on your special day, you WILL feel like a Princess and it really doesn’t matter that another bride has worn the dress before you, she had a wonderful day and you will too!
